E-Learning Certificate: Assessment and Evaluation

E-Learning Assessment and Evaluation gives you the skills needed to assess and evaluate assignments in an e-learning environment. Throughout the course, you will explore an e-learning project that requires assessment and discover best practices for implementation.

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Articulate concepts, techniques and skills that contribute to successful assessment practices
  • Identify and design assessment methods and activities that align with learner outcomes
  • Differentiate and utilize both quantitative and qualitative methods of assessment
  • Compare and contrast methods of feedback
  • Identify methods to evaluate and measure accomplishment of e-learning objectives, project criteria and/or program goals
  • Make recommendations for improvements

Time Commitment: Plan for 3-6 hours of work per week.

If you are new to instructional design, it is strongly recommended that you take the courses sequentially. Students must complete all other courses before beginning the E-Learning Practicum.

Instructors

Jennifer Wyld

Dr. Jennifer Wyld has been involved in education for over 30 years and has worked with all ages, from preschool to graduate school students. She received a PhD from Oregon State University in Science and Math Education (with an emphasis on Free Choice Learning). For 8 years, she was part of the Synergies research project, a longitudinal study on adolescent STEM interest development.

Lynne Hindman, Ph.D.

Dr. Lynne Hindman is an educator and resourceful lifelong learner who values partnerships, teamwork, and building bridges across organizations. Certified PreK-12 school principal, tenured teacher, college administrator, university instructor, researcher, and community educator. Lynne has a Masters in Educational Leadership; Specialist in Ed. Administration; and a PhD in Adult & Higher Education with a specialty in Community College Leadership.

John Drischell

John Drischell is a university educator, serving as both an adjunct for the speech communication department and an instructional designer for the professional development of educators. While designing and delivering courses for eight years, he has taught across different institutions including the University of Pittsburgh, Clark College, and Oregon State University. He received his masters degree from Oregon State University in interdisciplinary studies focusing on communication and rhetoric. He holds certifications in APPQMR, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Professional Faculty in eLearning (PFE) and several QM-certified courses (Quality Matters Review Board). John strives to enhance his online teaching strategies by bringing as much energy and realism into technology. Teaching from a student perspective has allowed him to focus on reflective learning, hybrid & blended course design, accessibility, and flexible approaches to maximize learning.
