OSU-permaculture-design-certificate-PERM-TIMES.FEB2

Welcome to this month's newsletter, which is focussed on permaculture approaches to large scale land and water management.

The  landscapes of farm, forest and grasslands are the places where there's the most capacity to restore hydrologic cycles and sequester carbon. It's as simple as raising the amount of organic matter in soils while raising the lands capacity to absorb water.

If we can maximize carbon and water storage in the vast landscapes that are currently under human management, then we can go far in stabilizing  atmospheric carbon levels and the Earth's climate.

So this month's newsletter looks at some of the design methods and projects that are making a large scale difference!

INDIA'S PERMACULTURE REVOLUTION - PART II

The next leg of our journey through India’s revolutionary water projects began in West Bengal.

In the second half of the trip, I spent five days touring and filming projects with a Kolkata based NGO that has worked in over 300 villages for nearly 40 years: the Development Research Communication and Services Centre (DRCSC) founded by Ardhendu Chatterjee in 1982.

You can read about my journey and the insights I've learned here.

THIS ISSUE FEATURES:

Keyline® in the AR Sandbox

The Keyline® Plan is a design system that has over half a century of results managing water and soil over the wide landscape. This series is my best attempt to present a simple introduction to the design system, beginning with the very basics: understanding landforms to determine the potentials that each landscape possesses.  There are a lot more design layers to this system then what is presented in this 7-part series, so please treat this as an introduction, and not a comprehensive explanation. We are offering this excerpt from our Permaculture Design Certificate Course out for free to the public.

EARTH REPAIR RADIO

Earth Repair Radio tells stories of land regeneration and the people who are striving to create a better life for all. Through the lens of Permaculture, we promote a future where humanity lives in harmony with Earth's natural systems.
