FARM TO SCHOOL & NUTRITION EDUCATION

Who Are We and What Do We Do?

We are a team of OSU Extension Educators with skills ranging from gardening and cooking to food systems, nutrition, youth development, agriculture and more. We are bound by our passion for building a healthy community through access to food and education about food. We connect Klamath youth and their families to food in all its remarkable forms—growing it, cooking it, tasting it and learning about its value for health.

We do this by providing educational opportunities to experience where food comes from, how its grown, how its prepared and how it affects health. Activities include in-class, distance or hybrid education, field trips, hands-on cooking and gardening kits, food tastings, afterschool clubs, art and cooking contests and educational materials. Programs are delivered through partnerships with schools and youth organizations and are frequently grant funded.

These projects are funded, in part, by grants from USDA Farm to School, ODE Farm to School and USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
