Foundation of Distilled Spirits Business and Essential Training Online

If you're thinking about starting your own distillery, but wondered how to get started and where to begin then this online course is specifically designed for you.

At the end of two days, you will walk away with:

  • Step-by-step process to opening a distillery
  • How to start a craft distillery with a low budget and what's needed to be successful
  • Where to begin, from raising funds to creating a business plan to understanding the legal requirements
  • A viable business plan to get started with a micro-budget
  • Insight into the distilled spirits industry

Whether you want to start a distilling business with gin, whiskey/whisky, and anything else, this two-day workshop will help you avoid costly mistakes and shorten the time from idea to execution.

You will also have direct access to Paul Hughes the instructor who has delivered distilling courses and distillery consultancy internationally for more than a decade. He is a sought-after distilled business consultant and is often asked to participate as an expert witness in cases of legal dispute.

Distilling Course Description

This course starts by outlining the three distinct stages of distilled spirits production (production of a fermented extract, distillation and downstream modifications), using whiskey, gin, tequila and brandy as examples.

The workshop is online and live starting at 8:00 am.

So, rather than leaving your friends and family to travel to Corvallis, OR, you will be able to attend live where ever you happen to be! Just like a traditional in-person event, you will be able to ask questions and interact directly with your instructor Paul Hughes.

Distilled Business Plan

A wide range of business plans and successful distilling models are available to a new distiller, from third-party manufacturing to complete production of fermented alcohol and distillation.

Learn TTB and Distilling Permits

The course finishes with a step-by-step discussion of the licensing requirements, both federal (TTB) and state (Oregon, OLCC). As part of the course manual, a paper explaining these licensing requirements is included.

Distilled Spirits Training Overview

This online course is designed to provide you with the various options and information needed to start your own distillery. After two days, you will:
  • Understand the production steps required for the manufacture of common distilled spirits (gin, whiskey, vodka, etc.)
  • Be able to evaluate business model options for the manufacture of common distilled spirits
  • Know the state and federal licensing requirements for an operational distilled spirits operation
  • Enhance your network with other students

In short, you will learn how to turn an interest into an enjoyable and rewarding career
