I write to you in the week that the Governor of the State of Oregon issued a "Shelter in Place" order, closing businesses and telling everyone to stay put. I am here on my 1/3 acre permaculture site that I have been developing for 10 years and am surrounded by fertile soils, food in the gardens, water storage, honey bees flying, and fruit trees blooming. Permaculture was developed as a design system to give people resilience in the face of ecological and social instability. Permaculture stresses self-reliance, by producing as much of what you need to live as close to home as possible. |

With the Covid-19 global pandemic raging through cities and towns, people losing their jobs, travel restrictions in place, and a general slowdown of industrial civilization, people may finally see the value of providing for their own needs as much as possible.. In this newsletter, we seek to highlight some information that may help you prepare and increase your own resilience, so you can ride out the virus surrounded by abundant food, water, and a thriving natural environment. ~ Andrew Millison |
