Dairy Online Certificate: Module 13 - Membrane Filtration Process

In module 13, we will look at the membrane separation and concentration technologies.

Module 13 Course Overview

Membrane Filtration is a relatively new technology being adapted for concentration and fractionation processes for milk, whey and their components.

We will see the common definitions used in membrane separation, basics of separation, and materials and membranes used for separation.

We will also learn the details of the membrane processes and their applications in the dairy industry.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the basics of membrane separation technology.
  2. Describe the definitions related to separation technology.
  3. List the type of membranes and materials used in membrane separation process.
  4. Know and explain the commonly applied membrane separation processes.
  5. Understand some common applications of membranes in the dairy industry.

Themed Tracks

The intended audience for this track includes all levels of plant personnel involved in the production of dry milk and whey products.
